I Would Rather Be a Hindu Minority In Pakistan Than Be A Muslim Minority In India

Hindus in Pakistan are not likely to face massacres and mass rapes like Muslims face in India on a regular basis. Nellie, Bhagalpur, Mumbai, Gujarat, Muzzafarnagar are just few of the many examples that can be found in recent history. To constantly live with the feeling that one day, due to some event not connected to you, a mob will attack your house, rape and kill you and your family is a miserable way to live.

Hindus in Pakistan are not constantly held responsible for the crimes done by Hindus in other parts of the world. Muslims in India are answerable for any crime committed by a Muslim anywhere in the world.

If someone in Pakistan openly called for the rape of Hindu women that person will be considered an extremist, terrorist. Such a person will remain on the fringe and is unlikely to get wide public support. The pro Taliban Tehreek e Insaaf party miserably failed in the general elections. In India Hindutva extremists openly call for the rape of Muslim women, even ask people to dig out dead Muslim women from their graves and rape them, such people are rewarded by the masses during elections. Some Muslims in India suffer physical injury and death of near ones due to massacres but all the Muslims in India have to live with the insult of seeing the perpetrators reach the highest positions of power using the democratic process.

There is no pressure from the Pakistani society to take away the rights granted to Hindus under the Hindu Personal Law. There is some disagreement in which Pakistan wants to give Hindu women the right to divorce but Hindus are opposing it. In India there is massive pressure from the Hindu society to bring in Uniform Civil Code that will dissolve the Muslim Personal Law and ask Muslims to abide by the customs that Hindus deem correct for them.

Pakistan does not put restrictions on the dietary habit of Hindus and other Non Muslim citizens of Pakistan. A Non Muslim citizen of Pakistan is free to consume alcohol and eat pork. In India beef is banned in many states because beef is consumed mainly by Muslims and Dalits.

The politics of Pakistan is not focused on Hindus. You will hardly find any talk shows on Pakistani channels discussing Hindu matters. The Hindu society of Pakistan is not constantly under pressure from the media or the politicians. In India almost every issue can be linked to the Muslim minority. Even the population explosion of India is blamed on 15% Muslims and not on 85% non Muslims of India.

For those who want to say Hindu population of Pakistan has drastically come down I recommend them to read this first.

  1. A Hindu in Pakistan? Are you joking? Just one question for you… Tell me a name of a Hindu Celebrity? If u can reply this, I will take your point.
One more thing,my Muslim friends will never even look at Pakistan, they have no interest in being called Mohajirs!

    1. While there are Hindus in Pakistan who have successfully fought elections, made it to the highest post of judiciary etc that cannot be employed as a measure to assess the condition of Hindus in Pakistan. Peripherals cannot be used to determine the median. Would you say condition of African Americans in the US is good now because Obama is the president? That would not be correct.

  2. Exactly. Peripherals cannot be used to determine the median. Bhagalpur, Babri Masjid and Gujarat were incidents that happened more than ten years back. These are peripherals while Muslims and Hindus have lived peacefully for the rest of the time. India has Muslims who have been elected, Muslim chief justices, a Muslim President. As regards, the Uniform Civil Code, introducing one will take away the rights of Hindus under their personal laws too. It will make everyone equal under the law (especially the women), which is the right path for a civilized society to take!!! Right now Muslim personal laws in India treat Muslim women like dirt. As regards food, will a Hindu or Christian ever be permitted to eat pork in Pakistan? (Don’t say Hindus don’t eat pork because they do!)

  4. I don’t know if you live in Pakistan or what , but you make statements with baseless or really a pinhole version of things as evidence.

I would rather be a Hindu in Pakistan than a Muslim in India , one could agree. But I would never want to be Muslim in Pakistan either ……….

You see fundamentally the politics in Pakistan is not centered around Hindus ,they do have representation of some kind ,i guess, but they are not a “political” minority. Another reason is ,whether their constitution mentions it or not ,they are kind of “kept” or more fairly treated as, to by the society as whole, “a protected second class citizen that enjoy rights to vote and representation” of some sort .
Pakistanis are more of busy fighting between their own factions, so the other religious minorities are not marked in the spectrum as significant. A blessing in disguise ! most would say .

On the other hand Muslims have been kind of mischievous in the political game in India . They are a very very large minority. They for 320+321 years were the cultural and political leaders of most of the Gangetic plains that “India” ended up with within its territory after the partitions. One must also take into consideration that “INDIA” came into existence after the partitions , unlike what many history books want to portray .

The Muslims in india wanted a share of the rule politically and this was fanned partly by the HINDU Nationalists wanting their complete excommunication from it . This goal of the Hindu Nationalists could not be reached in one day , and experiences with riots did show that . The only way was economic expulsion and the congress, the sangh and everybody else was apart of it . In this way the riots were orchestrated more for more of a economic terror than a religious one . A whole lot of other shit with the state and sangh politics helped too .

But still Muslims as a minority have had a significant role in indian politics (rather than in society ) after the “independence” of india . That at least the Hindus in Pakistan have been at this scale been deprived of and for this reason one might beg to differ with your premise . A community that has no social or political contribution in the development of a society in dead already . The case for the Muslims is that they have been “Socially” eradicated from the fabric of “Indian” society, they however could not (at least till date except in Gujrat* ) get rid of them from politics. I would say Muslims have fared better for themselves in India than our Hindu counterparts in Pakistan .

Having said that, being a “political” minority destroys it from within. It cripples it emotionally , intellectually and puts in great deal of depression. I would say being a minority really doesn’t make you feel a part society ,especially if you are a religious one in our brand of politics .

(*I take it as a influence of “Hindu” sentiments that the Congress as they say could not field a Muslim candidate for the LS elections this time around citing that there was not even one constituency that the people would vote for them, know that their candidate is a Muslim .)

  5. Yes ofcourse that is why hindu residents in pakistan are homeless as their properties are snatched away, hindus sikhs ahmadis siya and christians all who fall in the minoriity category in pak are calling it hell to be a part of pak anymore. Hindus in pak are forging their way back to our country as they feel they would be lynched anytime in pak if they dont abandon the most unfortunate miscued and hell of a place in this holy world. We hindus in India respect people of islam religion. And where are our so called intellectual writers who are returning their sahotya academy awards over a dadri row. Why dont you guys stand up and protest against pakistanis who are making lives of minorities residing there hell. Common stop this hypocracy and show the world India is devoid of any biasness over religion we ve always and will always be together no matter whosoever come to divide us with that evil intent.

  6. Being a Hindu it would be easy for me to choose any hindu personality as my inspiration. But to the contrary I hold the highest regards for Dr.Kalam who has given our country so much. I respect each and every muslim residing in my country and it is high time we kick out these politicians who are trying to divide us on religion basis. Its a request guys pleace dont only use dove soap to clean your body but also use it as a symbol of peace. Before anything else we need to make up our minds and come up strong we are a country with maximum youth population and if all come together and use our energies and dedication towards one goal then ofcourse we have a platform set for better India.
